Got a Spurs addiction? Playing three days after the Europa League games must feed his even further! That’s right, we’re back yet again for our second game of the season against a packed White Hart Lane setting against Welsh side Swansea City – our first home game of the season.
Michael Laudrup’s side impressed hugely last season including claiming the Capital One Cup and finishing well in the league. Swansea are a side capable of playing like Barcelona and with the additional firepower of Wilfred Bony this season, they are sure to give us a game. However, with our new recruits, a striker keen to score with every touch, AVB’s sleek new style of football and a new look formation; we are sure to put the pressure back on them.
The game comes after a very successful week for the Yids. After a confident defeat of Crystal Palace and an even more convincing annihilation of Dinamo Tbilisi, Spurs are looking fresh and energetic and are beginning to work well as a unit (something not always apparent vs. Palace.) The midweek clash enabled us to gel as a side and learn each-other’s moves, the 5-0 win would have only added to their confidence.
The last time we entertained Swansea at White Hart Lane (the home of football) we beat them 1-0 thanks to a goal from the fabulous Jan Vertonghen and the fixture was particularly memorable as Hugo Lloris got away with punching Michu’s lights out towards the nervy end.
I expect a fairly similar side to that of which travelled to Selhurst Park last Sunday. With Capoue playing so very strongly I can see him potentially challenging for a spot which could result in Mousa Dembele being dropped or pushed forward into the Centre-attacking midfielder role to replace the recently poor Gylfi Sigurdsson. I can see our back-four to be that which kept Ian Holloway’s side out a week ago and the forward line to entertain Roberto Soldado, Aaron Lennon and Nacer Chadli.
Despite his phenomenal display in Georgia, I can only see Andros Townsend make a bench start tomorrow. He clearly offered a bit more in the way of finishing than Aaron however they could battle it out for that right wing place.
I can see Soldado claiming some goals as he is on fire at the moment. Paulinho should deliver yet again centrally and I can see Chadli building on his increasing ability with more minutes at the weekend.
Predicted team: Lloris; Walker, Dawson, Vertonghen, Rose; Paulinho, Capoue, Dembele, Chadli, Lennon, Soldado
Predicted Score: Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Swansea City
Predicted Man of the Match: Roberto Soldado
