Tottenham are back and better than ever with the addition of some new global talent. We face Norwich in the first Saturday fixture of Spurs’ campaign at White Hart Lane.
With the International break well an truly behind us, we return to the Premier League with the prospect of seeing some new boys in action. Tottenham have had a good start to the season despite the set back at the Emirates 2 Sundays ago. AVB has said this week that the key to our world-class squad gelling is through game time and Chris Hughton’s side provide the rare blend of difficulty and potential to be defeated which should allow our defence to fight for another clean sheet and provide our attacking lineup (including the exciting new duo of Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela) with a platform to perform.
This week saw the squad take their group photos and through Instagram: http://instagram.com/p/eM_h7CN9n5/ and Facebook photos, we could see that the boys are beginning to look as one. This is important leading into a Home fixture as – with the full support of the fans – we could have a great weekend.
I believe Norwich could pose us a defensive challenge however. With Gary Hooper set to make his debut for the Canaries and new-boy Ricky van Wolfswinkel proving a good purchase for Hughton’s side, I think they could give Jan and Michael a real busy afternoon. AVB highlighted van Wolfswinkel as their main threat this week and I too agree he could add to his Norwich account with Andre sighting his aerial prowess as his distinctive feature.
Spurs however have the ability to call on some new talents. Despite flying in from Argentina on Wednesday, Erik Lamela is available for selection this weekend however from his press-conferences, it seems AVB won’t start the former Roma star. Christian Eriksen is likely to make his Tottenham debut however and I cannot contain my excitement for this fixture. I can see Sandro returning to replace the injured Etienne Capoue whom is expected to return later this month. With his work permit still to be finalised, new defender Vlad Chiriches will not be involved this weekend.
KO: 3pm, White Hart Lane Stadium.
FACT – Tottenham’s defeat to Arsenal was their first loss since losing to Fulham back in March – 10 matches ago.
Predicted Lineup – Lloris, Walker, Dawson, Vertonghen, Rose, Paulinho, Sandro, Eriksen, Townsend, Chadli, Soldado
Predicted Score: Tottenham 2-1 Norwich
(Eriksen and Soldado)
