Match Preview – Burnley (A) FA Cup

After the best possible start to 2015, Tottenham continue their road to glory with the visit to Burnley in the 3rd round of the FA Cup. After already overcoming Sean Dyche’s side 2-1 in the Premier League, Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping that his side repeat the victory at Turf Moor this Monday.

Venue: Turf Moor

Kick-Off: 7:45pm

Television Coverage: Not televised

Stats (via BBC Sport)

There have been 24 goals scored in the last five meetings in all competitions, with at least 3 in each game. Those last five matches have all been won by the home team. The last time these teams played each other at Turf Moor was in March 2010, with Burnley claiming a 4-2 victory. Tottenham defeated the promoted side 2-1 in December, after a splendid winner from Erik Lamela.

Tottenham’s only defeat in their last seven league matches came against Chelsea. They have won a league-high eight points from goals scored in the 85th minute or later this season. Mauricio Pochettino’s side have come from behind to win three league games this season – only Chelsea have won as many. Harry Kane has 13 goals in 22 appearances in all competitions for Spurs this season.

Opposition focus

Burnley have only lost two of their last seven league games (W1, D3, L3). They have never won a Premier League match in London. Sean Dyche’s side have conceded five goals from corners this season – more than any other side.

Team News

Nabil Bentaleb misses the game due to his involvement in the African Cup of Nations with Algeria. Erik Lamela confirmed on Instagram after the victory over Chelsea that he had a slight calf injury, and is therefore a doubt to play. Ryan Mason’s early departure from the 5-3 win due to a hamstring issue also buts him in doubt to face Burnley.

Predictions

Starting XI – Vorm, Dier, Fazio, Vertonghen, Davies, Stambouli, Dembélé, Townsend, Lennon, Paulinho, Soldado (4-4-1-1)

Score – Burnley 1-3 Tottenham
