Today the club confirmed that former striker and current European top-scorer at Spurs, Jermain Defoe has returned to White Hart Lane.
In order to maintain his fitness during the MLS close season, Defoe has returned to the club and will take part in training sessions with the development squad throughout the week.
The former Spurs man tweeted yesterday saying: “just touched down in the UK from South of France, was training with my fitness guy feeling stronger than ever!”
With the club making it clear that the return to the North London was merely for training purposes “next week”, many have speculated that a short term loan deal was perhaps in the offing, given that the FA Cup 3rd Round replay against Burnley is scheduled for Wednesday 14th.
Although with the tweet from @SpursOfficial making it clear that the return was purely for “next week” alone, Spurs fans may have to come to terms with the fact that the star striker is happy with Toronto for the time being.
