Tottenham winger Erik Lamela has picked up the award for Europa League goal of the season, for his superb rabona against Asteras Tripolis at White Hart Lane.
The Argentine struck the effort in a 5-1 victory over the Greek side, which saw Harry Kane pick up a hat-trick as well as play a short stint in goal.
The official UEFA Europa League Twitter account even called the effort ‘majestic’ as Lamela picked up the best goal seen in the competition in the 2014/15 season.
I was lucky enough to be in the Press Box at the Lane on the night to witness the goal, and the entire group of reporters around me were left silent at the stunning effort.
He may pick his moments, but Erik Lamela clearly has some special ability that help to make some sense of his hefty price tag.
