Bastian Schweinsteiger completes Manchester United move, will it help Tottenham Hotspur’s Morgan Schneiderlin pursuit?

16672573530_aa13d936fa_oOn Saturday, it was announced that Bastian Schweinsteiger had completed a move to Manchester United subject to a medical.

Throughout the summer, Manchester United had alternatively been linked to a move for Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin.

Louis van Gaal’s side had a £20million bid rejected two weeks ago for Schneiderlin, who is admired strongly by Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Now that the Bayern Munich star has joined the Red Devils, could this open the door for Pochettino to sign his most-wanted man this summer?

It is widely thought that Spurs have been deterred from signing the midfielder, given that the Saints have placed such a large price on his head. Reports over the last year have claimed that Benjamin Stambouli was thought to be Pochettino’s back-up to Schneiderlin. With reports claiming that the Frenchman could be off to Watford this summer (and with Etienne Capoue already out the door), could Schneiderlin fill that void?

1400x8478Many would speculate that such a deal would be impossible, especially given the controversy surrounding Toby Alderweireld’s move to White Hart Lane, leaving a bitter taste in the mouths of many Saints fans.

But with Manchester United effectively out of the race now to sign the Southampton star, could Daniel Levy work some magic and sign Mauricio Pochettino’s crown jewel?

  1. […] Stambouli would join the likes of Paulinho, Holtby and Capoue to exit Mauricio Pochettino’s squad, which could potentially fuel a move for Morgan Schneiderlin of Southampton. […]

Whatever schneiderlin’s price is to Utd would be double to you bunch of ‘big time’ t0553rs!

Filthy club with an out of touch view of who you are – small time London wannabes!…. Nothing like a real football club such as arsenal, Chelsea or even the hammers.

Highly suspect in your business dealings – tapping up players, coaches etc… Not to mention some of the mysterious acquisition of land/properties which the new sh1te hart lane will be built on!

Wouldn’t surprise me if arsenal went for him just a tad to much really for him,20mill seems about right ! Not sure levy would put his hand in his pocket and splash over 20 mill for him we definitely need someone who know where the goal is to take a bit of the pressure off of Harry !
