Sunderland interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur defender

01_16091258_43df6d_2415302aThe Sun understand Sunderland are interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur captain Younes Kaboul.

Kaboul is reportedly an alternative to Zenit St Petersburg defender Nicolas Lombaerts, whom the Black Cats have tried to acquire this transfer window.

According to the Sun, Dick Advocaat is willing to spend £3million on the Spurs centre-half, who has fallen out-of-favour with Mauricio Pochettino this campaign.

Despite maintaining his captaincy status, Kaboul is reportedly a player that stuck by Emmanuel Adebayor during dressing room disagreements after the 2-1 home defeat to Stoke City in November, and as a result is expected to be sold by the club.

Spurs are also expected to sell Kaboul this summer to relieve the battle for places currently in the Spurs defence.
