Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed today that striker Emmanuel Adebayor has reached a mutual agreement with the club to terminate his contract.
Adebayor first joined Tottenham on loan in 2011 under Harry Redknapp, scoring 17 goals in a marvellous first season with the club.
The Togo international then joined Spurs permanently in 2012 under Andre Villas-Boas for £5million, and after the previous campaign, many labelled this a bargain price.
However, despite a small return to form under Tim Sherwood, including a goal against West Ham on his first appearance back, Adebayor never returned to his glorious form seen during his loan spell.
Former Spurs boss Harry Redknapp told me recently that he thought Adebayor was an ‘excellent trainer’ and never encountered a problem with the forward.
Whether being swept up in Juju, not seeing a sign from God, or simply taking an absence of leave every few months, Emmanuel Adebayor had clearly overstayed his welcome at White Hart Lane.
