Twitter Reacts: Spurs ‘live’ training stream fails miserably

CJiIHvGWcAA0LeqTottenham Hotspur attempted to do the impossible this week and live stream the first fifteen minutes of training ahead of their Europa League tie with Anderlecht.

The first 15 minutes is always open to the press, and the players were scheduled to begin training at 10:45am, an approximate starting time for the content.

It was not until 11:30am that the stream finally became visible to most fans, who had grown angry after almost an hour since the service was meant to be made available. The video was only up for eight minutes which was even more unbelievable.

It was worth noting, once the stream was finally available, that Heung-Min Son was back in action. The South Korean was however training away from those normally in the starting XI.

We looked at five of the best tweets reacting to this major flop from Spurs TV:

Why Eric Dier can be a future Tottenham Hotspur captain

Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester City - Barclays Premier League

Eric Dier has been one of the surprise packages of the season at Tottenham Hotspur.

Not only has he been playing out of position (and strongly so), but the defensive midfielder has continued to score goals for his club, as well as playing with passion every time he steps on the pitch.

Dier, who signed from Sporting Lisbon in 2014, instantly endeared himself to Spurs fans with his debut winning goal against West Ham United last season.

Mauricio Pochettino made the decision to move the England Under-21 defender into midfield at the beginning of the summer, as financial constraints (and missing out on Morgan Schneiderlin), forced him to opt for someone already in his squad.

Dier has shown already in this campaign that he has the capabilities to thrive in the hold for Spurs, with the possibility of leading this young side in the future. The young star has showcased his exceptional work rate this term, covering 77.65km, the eighth most of any Englishman in the league.

eric-dier-1A centre-half by trade, Dier has demonstrated his defensive astuteness so far this campaign. In addition to making a total of eight blocks, which is the tenth most of any Englishman in the league, he has won 26 tackles (the second most of any Englishman).

Dier has also shown his ability to retain possession. He’s completed a total of 296 passes – which is the tenth most of any English player operating in the league.

It is clear that Dier has the qualities to be a star not only for Spurs, but for England aswell. With Roy Hodgson announcing his squad for upcoming internationals tomorrow, many have suggested the Tottenham youngster could be a surprise inclsuion.

Dier and Tottenham travel to face AS Monaco in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday.

(Photo by Mark Runnacles/Getty Images)Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has praised his side for completing their ‘best performance’ of the season in the 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Spurs, who collected their first home win of the campaign, have enjoyed a successful week having beaten Sunderland, Qarabag and now Palace successively.

Pochettino believes his side performed the best they have all season long, having put on both a strong defensive and attacking display against the Eagles.

Heung-Min Son, who scored the decisive goal against Alan Pardew’s side, has now scored three goals in three appearances for the North London side.

The South Korean star has received wide praise as a result, although team-mate Harry Kane is yet to get off the mark this season.

Tottenham face North London rivals Arsenal in the third round of the Capital One Cup at White Hart Lane on Wednesday.

Mauricio Pochettino says goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is ‘world-class’

HugoLlorisMauricio Pochettino has praised his goalkeeper after the Frenchman produced a stunning display to thwart Crystal Palace in the 1-0 victory at White Hart Lane.

Lloris, who said after the game that his team deserved to win, produced a number of successful stops to keep Alan Pardew’s side at bay on Sunday afternoon.

“We are much better now than at the beginning (of the season),” the Argentine stated.

“We play with a very young squad and the new players that have come. I am very happy with the few victories that we have got.”

Spurs, who have now won three games in the space of seven days, have a tough week ahead with the visit of North London rivals Arsenal and Premier League leaders Manchester City.

Pochettino continued: “I think it is important to build confidence and trust with the three clean sheets. I think there are a lot of positives that we can take. Today that was clear that we were strong and showed good character.

4569852“This is the way we want to play, to build a strong team for the future,” he remarked.

But it was the performance of his goalkeeper that drew a strongly positive reaction from the Spurs head-coach.

“I think Hugo is one of the world-class keepers. I am very pleased to work with him and I am happy. He has shown many times that he is one of the best.”

Mauricio Pochettino and his side face Arsenal in the third round of the Capital One Cup on Wednesday evening.

Injury update ahead of Crystal Palace: Tottenham midfield trio could return

2BC72A1700000578-0-image-a-1_1441120442157Tottenham Hotspur could have three crucial midfielders back this weekend for the massive game against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

BBC Sport understand Mauricio Pochettino could have Mousa Dembele, Christian Eriksen and Ryan Mason all available after injury.

Spurs picked up their first win of the Premier League season last weekend against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light, with Ryan Mason scoring the well-worked late winner for the travelling side.

Eric Dier was substituted off with suspected cramp in the 3-1 win over FK Qarabag on Thursday night, but was able to continue for a brief period. His substitution appeared a precaution.

Elsewhere, Nabil Bentaleb confirmed over social media this week that his ankle injury will put him out for a reported three months.

Palace boss Alan Pardew has been rather brave in his pre-match comments. He appeared to reassure Spurs fans that they ‘will finish in the top ten,’ after their less than satisfactory start to the campaign.

The two sides meet at White Hart Lane on Sunday with kick-off at 1:30pm.

AUDIO: Mauricio Pochettino says he will use ‘whole squad’ for Europa League

4567945Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has told reporters that he will use his entire squad in order to tackle the Europa League strongly this season.

Pochettino, whose side face FK Qarabag tonight at White Hart Lane, admitted that he may have to use Harry Kane in order for his side to succeed this campaign.

Spurs made it to the last 32 in 2014/15, and despite being early favourites, struggled against stronger sides such as Besiktas and Fiorentina.

The Spurs boss admitted that the Europa League is a “good competition,” despite having its critics. He continued to praise the fact that it allows him to make use of his entire squad.

Kane is yet to score for Tottenham this season, and his manager said that everyone must “keep calm,” when piling the pressure on the England international.

Tottenham Hotspur Under-21 captain Cameron Carter-Vickers: ‘Pochettino supports us’

mc730lTottenham Under-21 captain Cameron Carter-Vickers has told NBC Sports that Mauricio Pochettino has allowed the youth players to boost their confidence at the club.

Speaking to NBC, the young USA international was speaking about his delight at being included in the USA Under-23 squad for training this week.

Carter-Vickers, who is vying for a place in the USA CONCACAF Olympic qualifying squad, says he loves leading the Under-21 squad at the North London club.

“For the first three games I have been captain, which is a great experience,” Carter-Vickers said.

“It gives me added confidence and when I go out to play I can just go out there and focus on playing. It is really good.”

Pochettino focuses strongly on implementing youth into his side, as has been shown through the rise of Harry Kane, Ryan Mason and Nabil Bentaleb. Carter-Vickers feels this boosts his chances for success.

The centre-half said: “He [Pochettino] gives youth a chance and he looks for hard work.

“So as long as you are always giving 100 percent and you’re being honest, then it will be good.”

Carter-Vickers and the Spurs Under-21 squad face Reading at the Lamex Stadium on Monday at 7PM.

Screen Shot 2015-09-10 at 09.26.00Nacer Chadli has told the Daily Mirror that Spurs have shown ambition in the summer transfer window, and is excited by the future of the club.

Mauricio Pochettino made some strong defensive signings, with the capture of Toby Alderweireld the focal point of their summer business.

Spurs also acquired Kieran Trippier, Kevin Wimmer, Heung-Min Son and Clinton N’Jie as part of their bid for the Premier League top four.

Chadli says he is looking forward to playing with “great players,” on the same week where it was reported that new signing Heung-Min Son chose Spurs over Premier League heavyweights Manchester City and Liverpool.

“It’s always good to play with more great players and I think it’s a plus point for us,” Chadli said.

“I’m excited because a club like Tottenham is a big club and it shows the club has ambition, so for me it’s good.”

AUDIO: Mauricio Pochettino ‘very angry’ after flaky Tottenham concede late

1400x8478Mauricio Pochettino has spoken of his anger at the 1-1 draw with Leicester City on Saturday.

Despite dominating most of the game, scoring a late goal through Dele Alli, Spurs’ weak defence allowed for the Foxes’ to take a point from the game.

Pundits have faulted Jan Vertonghen for Mahrez’s goal, in which the Belgian defender lacked conviction to make a strong challenge inside his area, and instead allowed the Algerian midfielder to shoot on goal.

Many have called for Pochettino to make offensive additions to his squad, with which the Argentine has told reporters that he will add before the window closes.
